Upon Arrival – Park directly in the car-park next to the Sports Centre on the Leicester Road. Walk directly to the Western Quad where NBC Camps is located. See the map for further details
Camp Store – We will have a fully stocked store on camp selling all kinds of basketball gear – shorts, NBC T-shirts,NBC hoodies, balls, sweatbands, water bottles etc. Much of this is imported from the US. All of it is of a great quality and reasonably priced!
Parent Programme Closing Ceremony – All parents/guardians, grandparents, siblings and friends are invited to attend our Closing Programme at 3pm on the last day of camp. This is our closing ceremony and includes drill demonstrations, all-star awards, tournament awards, voted awards, enthusiasm and lots of fun.
We would like to offer you and guests the opportunity to join us for lunch on the last day before the Award Program at a cost of £10 per person. Lunch vouchers can be bought on the first day of camp at registration. Polite warning – you may or may not be able to eat with your son/daughter depending on their schedule!
There are three separate Uppingham Houses that we use – your son/daughter will be allocated a House and room prior to arrival. A number of room configurations are available at camp, ranging from single rooms, twin rooms and a few dorms of 3/4 beds. You will have already requested a preference on the registration form. We will do our best to meet this request, but it is not guaranteed! Don’t worry if they are not at camp with friends! We will make sure they are allocated a room/area with campers in the same age group!
Please bring plenty of basketball clothing for the duration of camp. Bedding will be provided. You will also need a ball. We sell a wide range of balls in our camp store, priced between £10 and £35. Some additionalessentials are a sun hat, sun cream, towel, pen/paper, swimming stuff, hand sanitiser and alarm clock.
For security reasons, We operate a cashless system at camp and NBC provides a bank service.Every camper upon arrival deposits their cash into our ‘bank’ at Registration – this can be used for purchase in our store, tuck shop, camp photo and pizza. During a typical one week stay, an average of £40-£60 has been spent by each camper depending on what they buy!
Whatever they do not spend will be returned at the end of the week. All other valuables are brought at your ownrisk. Please have the money to be paid into the bank ready in a named envelope when registering.
At registration all campers will receive an NBC E-card and lanyard to gain access around the school and their own accommodation building. A £5 deposit is retained until the card is returned at the end of the week.
Campers tend to spend their money on the following optional extras:
- Framed Team Photographs – £6
- Late Night Pizza – £9 (based on a shared Dominos pizza) – as treat on last In addition to eveningmeal
- Items from our store
- Tuck snack shop items
To encourage campers to fully immerse themselves in the camp experience, without distractions, westrongly discourage them from bringing mobile phones, tablets etc. We thank you for your co- operation in this matter. For those who are travelling from a distance and prefer they have their phones, there will be a permitted time in the early evening for the students to access their phones. We can provide a safe place for the storage of mobile phones during the day.
You should not attend camp if you have confirmed COVID-19. Check NHS website for full details on symptoms. NBC will follow national guidelines and update you prior to camp of any significant requirements.
